How Does Certainty Lead to Mastery?

Friday, March 12th, 2010

Hello Aspiring Entrepreneurs!

This week has been a week if creating certainty in your life.

Certainty leads to mastery!

This week in our entrepreneur development program, we are learning to think and talk in terms of certainty of being confident and self assured.

To do this, you will need to change your verbiage to not use or think in terms of ‘when’ or ‘if’ or ‘try’ or any other terms that don’t portray certainty or specific results.

Now although that may sound easy enough, it can be kind of tricky at first to master. We have found that out as we have gone through this journey.  We didn’t know what we didn’t know and we wobbled a bit at first.  We were unsure and when challenged we backed right up and lost our power.

Here is an example of something we might say:

“If this new marketing strategy works and brings me in $10,000, I might be able to hire a personal assistant”

How powerful is that statement?

Not so much, right?  Still a little uncertainty, missing some convictions?

This week we are thinking and talking with absolute certainty about our future, about us:

“This new marketing strategy is brilliant and will quickly bring me in $10,000. And I will have my own personal assistant in 30 days”

It’s not just the words you use; it’s how you feel about them too.

What will it feel like having your own personal assistant?

Start making a list of everything you are going to have your assistant handle for you.

Live and think in terms of certainty.

The more you talk and think like this, the more you will believe it.

The more you believe it, the more other people associated with you will believe it.

The more they believe it, the more everyone else will believe it. And the more everyone believes it, the more energy is put out there that it will happen.

And it will.

You will see immense success in your life; in every area of life.

This a proven fact!

Have a conversation with anyone who is successful, happy, fulfilled, you name it and you will see that they think and speak differently than people who are not successful.

This is critical to your success. This was our week of saying right out loud how certain and confident we are and we wrote about it, spoke about it and instilled it in us.  Eventually you won’t have to actually say those words, once your experience rises to meet expectations, you will exude them, your tone and texture of your voce will change.  Your posture and your stance will be more powerful.  Your vibration will be different and you will start attracting different people to you and in some cases you will attract your first associate to you, you very first business partner.

If you apply this every day, your chances of success will increase dramatically!

Just like what we discussed this week in Advanced Conversations….first you are given the words and the feeling, the thoughts about something because you have none of your own.  You may have enthusiasm and motivation but you have no success experience so you have no matching words or power.

You are first given a script to keep you centered and on track, then you move to put more tone and texture to those same words, then as your success experience grows, you add your own words and feeling and power until you are inside out confident and the words don’t matter as much. Remember that only 7% is the words and 55% is how they are delivered.  With or without passion and conviction?

It will be the power and certainty that everyone around you will instantly recognize and immediately be attracted to.

Like way back in the day when I first got involved with selling cemetery property.  I was given the 42 page script to memorize. Not a comfortable experience but there were reasons for that.  I had no personal experience to draw from so I had no words and they wanted everyone to have the same experience about their property.  Soon I was adding my own tone and texture just like you are learning to do through your experience.

That is why you only need invite people to experience  presentations instead of trying to sell it yourself.  That way everyone coming into your program and who joins you in business gets the right first impression, the understanding of the offering and until you find your own words, you simply use the scripts.  Until you come into your own, use the tools that are given to you and learn to use them well, there will plenty of time to become more creative, when you find your own voice.

By doing the things we are most afraid of in little steps we conquer the big stuff that yesterday we were absolutely sure we could not do.  You are doing it.  Congratulations.

What did you do this week to make you a more confident and certain person?

Enjoy your weekend

What Defines A Good Leader

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

What really defines a good leader?

How do You Become a Good Leader?

What are the Traits of a Good Leader?

Why should people follow you?

Why should anyone ever listen to you and your opinion?

In order for anyone to follow us, we have to be a good leader.  We have to exude the trait that make people sit up and pay attention.  We must earn and respect and protect their trust in us. In business…In life…we have to lead in order to have anyone do what we would like them to do.

To me it comes down to four essential ingredients

·         Being centered and grounded

·         Having the ability to take action

·         Being tough minded

·         Being a good communicator

Who are you?

Are you a leader?

Let’s take a look into what I believe makes a great leader. These are traits of high emotional intelligence as well.

Successful leaders are always grounded and centered.  They are always in a stable mood and are seen as dependable, not erratic or unpredictable.  Followers can anchor to someone who has these qualities.

Good leaders have high self-regard “Know it Alls” are not good leaders…they alienate people.   A good leader will know their strengths and more importantly, their weaknesses and they will shore up their team with those who can fill the gaps with skills in those areas.

Good leaders balance their lives and well as their business.  The fact is, if you have any imbalance in your life, your business world will suffer and vice-versa.  You can’t be a workaholic and be successful.  One or the other will always suffer so good leaders work at keeping the balance.  They are happier, in a more stable place and are more consistent in their approach to situations

Good leaders are straightforward and very aware. They know their values and beliefs and they stand on them.  They are unafraid to voice an opinion, no matter what the result may be.

They work hard at staying composed under pressure and they do not lose control in difficult circumstances.

Successful leaders take action.  They make good decisions after careful analysis and have a track record of doing so.  They also take into account the views and respect opinions of others.  Once they decide on a course of action, they don’t give up easy and they know that the follow-though is a critical part of the decision-making process.

Once a decision is made, they immediately execute.  Imperfect action!  They take action and evaluate the effectiveness of the decision and make corrections using both the mistakes and the successes to move forward.

Good leaders are optimistic, enthusiastic and ready for action at all times. They bring this to their team and allow them to grow within the team as individuals.  They get everyone involved and utilize everyone’s skills to make a more effective whole.

One thing that it is important to being a good leader is being tough-minded and being resilient when they are dealing with difficult situations and obstacles that get in the way of them reaching their desired outcome.  They preserve and use discipline to accomplish.  They welcome challenge and handle pressures well.  Good leaders are confident in their skin and exude this confidence but are not arrogant about this.

Good leaders are patient.  They are aware that things may take time and the evaluation and re-evaluation of decisions take time.  They don’t give up or act with impulse because things aren’t going well for them at that moment.  They will reanalyze things and make a good decision to move forward again.

Being a good communicator is probably the most important skill of a good leader.  If you cannot communicate your opinion clearly, then no one can follow.  The path will not be clear.  They cannot visually follow your path so they can’t take the step required to follow.

Know your leadership skills and work on being a better leader every day.  You don’t have to be in business to be a good leader.  Be the leader of your own life.  Bring more value to your own life.

Balance yourself and remember….everything that you think about becomes your reality.

Think about that reality.  Is it what you want?  Make the change today to change your destiny because you can do it one step at a time. One moment at a time.  Every moment counts.

Be the leader you know that you can be.

Pay attention to the people you talk to and work with and move within your personal sphere.

Be responsible

Show integrity

Be emphatic

Be assertive (not arrogant)

Be optimistic

Fly your own colours because you should always shine your light on the world.  You are worth it and being a good leader of your own life is a start.

Being a good leader is a responsibility that we should all take very seriously because we influence people every day and it is our obligation to be good and never to use   leadership powers for evil or to hurt anyone.
